WeVision EarlyEd Solutions Lab

The Bainum Family Foundation has committed significant resources to support Solutions Lab sites across the country.

We are demonstrating, in a tangible and practical way, that the ideal child care as defined by proximity experts can be made real — right now. Their ideal is within reach.

WeVision EarlyEd Solutions Lab sites include both child care options — ECE programs and trusted caregivers. They are diverse in location, history, families, and children served, as well as in their business structure. Accountabilities for the partnership are clearly defined.

At its core, each WeVision EarlyEd Solutions Lab site will focus on supporting the development of young children from birth through age five. The sites will operate within the scope of the child care option selected (e.g., ECE center, ECE home, or trusted caregiver), prioritize affordability for families, determine an accurate cost formula, and adhere to streamlined, right-sized regulations.

Early childhood education microsites

Small, isolated child care businesses are too frail — financially and operationally — to offer consistent quality and services. They also place a heavy cost and administrative burden on program owners/administrators and staff. Because of this, WeVision EarlyEd will explore new business models that increase the sustainability and quality of smaller programs. This will include leveraging the capacity and resources of large programs to support the growth and sustainability of smaller programs, while at the same time maintaining their independence and increasing their revenue. Models could include:

  • Leveraging co-habited and low-rent real estate spaces like public schools, hospitals or apartment buildings
  • Co-creating new franchise models
